Tonight, Clor are playing Paris for the first time.
They are showcasing songs from their eponymous debut album, recently released in France, and showing off their talent as live musicians and performers.

The setting could not be more perfect: intimately sized La Fleche d’Or, a disused, listed, beautifully preserved Art Deco railway station on the outskirts of the French capital.
It’s now half past midnight, and after 3 or 4 unsigned French bands whose names I have forgotten, Clor are on stage.
Admittedly the stage is too small for the 5 Londoners and there will be no ‘dancing’ on display from Barry Dobbin.

What’s on display however is great music, fantastic musicianship from everyone involved in what is probably today’s most idiosyncratic South London band, and a touching and amusing complicity between the band members, be it a smile here, a light banter there or mass consultation on what the next number should be as they have not prepared a set list.

They open with ‘Good Stuff’ and straight away I realise that we are miles away from the slick, CD adorning version of my beloved Clor. Number after number until ‘Love and Pain’ ends the set, like a perfect bookend, Clor are rocking the place, the audience is going crazy in appreciation.
Mid set we are treated to a mind blowing and moving ‘Danger Zone’, rendered the more special by Luke’s roof raising guitar playing.
Clor, confident in the quality of their material, are totally in sync with their audience and surrounding, the result being an impressive, rather sexy, memorable first time rocking ‘showcase’ from a ‘makes you proud to be a Londoner’ experienced and accomplished band.

Busy writing and recording a second LP, next time Clor are playing live in the UK, we should also be treated to new material, and that’s a rendez-vous that we shouldn’t miss.
