This is one of those live sessions organised by Xfm radio and the watching public are devoted fans who have tried all week to win tickets from various Djs.
Xfm have become the purveyors of interesting and good live shows and this is no exception.

How fitting that the Magic Numbers should be playing a few days after Valentines’ day. Judging by the audience, the appropriately named Romeo and his band mates are all about spreading love and good vibes. A vast number of couples are holding hands, hugging, singing...
the warmth emanating from the stage wrapping up the whole room.
The small venue gives the event a refreshingly intimate, party atmosphere.

The Magic Numbers open with ‘The Mule’ from eponymously named debut Lp and straight away you realise why everyone in the room looks so content. The music is good, musicianship impeccable and each band member smiling at you.
A few numbers further and after a couple of singles, ‘Forever Lost’ plus current one ‘I see you, you see me’, Romeo introduces 2 new tracks,
‘You never had it’ and ‘Boy’, and again more feel good and uplifting vibes are bestowed upon us. The audience is gently rocking.

After more good stuff to include ‘Love is a game’, ‘Love me like you’ and
‘Morning’s 11’, we are invited to sing along to ‘Wheels on fire’ and not many people decline such a tempting offer.
Romeo is a brilliant front man, friendly and genuine, generously talking to the audience.
Musically, the Magic Numbers are the equivalent to a week in the Maldives, lying down in the sun, a clear, warm blue sea gently lapping at your feet.

As a good-bye, we are treated to another new song ‘The beard’, which happens to be a total blinder. And with that the Magic Numbers leave the stage, cleverly leaving us wanting more.
With the quality of the new material introduced to us tonight they certainly left us looking forward to a next album.
