The Gotan Project, Franco- Argentinean ensemble, purveyors of the hottest Electro- Tango fusion this side of Argentina, completely seduced me with their second Lp ‘Lunatico’ and it’s yet again innovative take on the deep rooted, traditional Latin sound.

I am looking forward to watching this ten piece ensemble live as I am curious to see if the deliciously passion inducing recorded sounds can be translated live.

The Gotan Project, [Gotan being a twist on Tango] brainchild of three talented music makers, Philippe Cohen-Solal, Christoph M. Mller and Eduardo Makaroff, respectively French, Swiss and Argentinean is the meeting of some of the most passionate cultures in the world and the result is as expected, a musical roaring fire, penetrating your soul from the first beat.
Hypnotic and sinister. |

On one of the hottest days of 2006, in the unbearable heat of the jam packed venue, the musical notes are more mesmerizing than anything coming out of your stereo.
It’s all there, sexual tension, the right amount of drama, overpowering beats, every track lovingly wrapped up in intoxicating Argentinean Tango.
Every musician dressed in white, bathed in ever changing coloured lights as to enhanced the power of every song.
As every male and female in the audience seems to be dancing, feet shuffling, hips sexily rotating, bewitching compositions are thrown at us.
They open with ‘Diferente’, ‘La Viguela’, ‘Amor Porteno’...and I am pleased to say that in the next 90 minutes they will take us through album ‘Lunatico’, back and forth, track after track in the most lustful, most passionate musical encounter ever.
But of course they couldn’t forget to entrance us back to first released Lp, 1999 critically acclaimed ‘La Revancha Del Tango’ with spine-tingling
numbers ‘Epoca’, ‘Una Musical Brutal’, ‘Triptico’ and more...
The Gotan Project are in turn unique, romantic, erotic, slinky, dramatic but always addictive which is what you would expect from a tango [the vertical expression of a horizontal desire] mixed with the right amount of French naughtiness.
Not for the prudish but perfect for hot summer nights!
