Daisybox - Ultra Non

Since the release of its first album, Daisybox has pursued
the same goal: to prove that Rock music can also be sung
in French.

The Nicolas brothers, Olivier and Samuel, who formed the band in 1994 with Anne-Lise Pernotte and Leonard Vasco, spent their teenage years in Latin America, where they listened to American, English, and Spanish Rock and made the discovery that Spanish bands too, can make unexpected music, sing in their own language, and still be artistically understood at home and abroad.

Bearing that in mind, and thanks to influences from artists like The Pixies and Smashing Pumpkins, the members of Daisybox started writing, jamming and sharpening their musical style: a perpetual confluence of pure pop melodies and twisted, noisy riffs.

In summer 2001, the founder of a new indie rock label, Lez'Art Music, heard Daisybox’s first EP and saw the band live in a packed Parisian club and was immediately spellbound. That fall, the group travelled to England to record its first album, Organic, with American producer Daniel Presley, known for his work on The Breeders’ Last Splash.

Fast forward to spring 2004: three singles and almost two years of touring later (tour highlights included opening for Nada Surf and Alanis Morissette at the Paleo Festival in Switzerland), the band's star was shining even brighter, and the foursome were ready to write new songs.

Daisybox recorded its second album Diagnostic in Italy in September 2004, with producer Steve Lyon (Amplifier, Depeche Mode, The Cure). The result is a 10-track rock declaration - darker, rougher, and lyrically more incisive than Organic.

After releasing Diagnostic in April 2005, Daisybox hit the road again, gigging in France, Belgium, Switzerland and even Mexico. Some of the album’s tracks benefited from strong radio air play, including on Australian, Mexican and Finnish radios.

In spring 2006, Leonard announces that he wants to leave the band. The tour is shorten but stills ends up with a highlight concert at Charleroi’s Coliseum in Belgium, with the participation of friends artists who accept to get together to celebrate the band’s 10th anniversary.

Today, Daisybox has become a major player on the French rock scene and has even inspired a few up-and-comers, who have been influenced by the group’s catchy melodies, musical and artistic integrity.

The band is now working on its third album...
